J. Elliott Parker

J.'s music is “neo-beat” and it takes an exit from the mainstream to follow a musical path of discovery through music portraits of the famous and the not so famous. His subjects cover a wide range of personas including jazz trumpeter Chet Baker, football legend Joe Namath and method actor Marlon Brando. Whoever it is, his music captures the subject in words and sound.

Some of the best cats around grace his tracks. To J. when you get great musicians together doing what they dig, great things happen. J. is fascinated with the 50s and 60s. Whether it was the birth of the beat movement, the move from bebop to cool, the decade forever remembered in black and white or the color or the 60s. Whatever the reason, the vibe has found its way into the fabric of his music.

Twittering, posting on Facebook, or promoting himself on a MySpace page is not his thing. His gig is about telling stories and creating music musician like to play. I hope you dig the vibe. One of these days he will release the tunes for real!
